My brother is a musician. We were very fond of a good singsong around a piano as a family. I had an introduction to wonderful music through seeing him perform, and listening to my mother’s record collection of classical music. I’ve done a bit of jazz singing, and I’ve been an alto in choirs on and off since school.

It’s a lovely group with a great repertoire, but being part of a choir is a profound experience for me. There’s something sublime about losing yourself in music with other people. It’s magical when a choir stops being a group of individuals, and becomes a fused thing. There are some real musicians in the group, so I always feel challenged and inspired to try to do better.
